Orange / Gen. Tso Chicken
Air Fryer Chicken covered in an sweet orange citrus or tangy sauce.

- Air Fryer
- Large Mixing Bowl
- Small Saucepan
INGREDIENTS
FOR CHICKEN
- 1 lb. B/S Chicken Thighs - cubed
- 2 Tbsp. Cornstarch
FOR THE ORANGE SAUCE
- ½ cup Orange Juice
- 2 Tbsp. Brown Sugar
- 1 Tbsp. Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp. Rice Wine Vinegar - (Optional – White Distilled)
- ¼ tsp. Ground Ginger
- Dash Red Pepper Flakes
- Zest of 1 Orange
- 2 tsp. Cornstarch
- 2 tsp. Water
FOR GENERAL TSO SAUCE
- ⅓ cup Low Sodium Chicken Stock
- 1 tsp. Dark Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp. Soy Sauce
- 3½ Tbsp. Brown Sugar
- ½ tsp. Rice Wine Vinegar - (Optional – White Distilled)
- 2 tsp. Cornstarch
- 2 tsp. Water
OPTIONAL TO SERVE
- Green Onions - chopped
- Sesame Seeds
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat Air Fryer to 400°F.
Cook Chicken
- Combine chicken pieces and cornstarch in a bowl and mix until chicken is fully coated. Do not overly coat.
- Cook chicken for 7-9 minutes shaking halfway.
Prepare Sauce
- Combine the orange juice, brown sugar, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, ginger, red pepper flakes, and orange zest into a small saucepan on medium heat. (See note)
- Bring mixture to a simmer and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Mix cornstarch and water together in a small bowl and add it to the sauce.
- Simmer for 1 minute while stirring then immediately remove from heat.
- Remove chicken from the air fryer and combine with sauce.
- Top with green onions and sesame seeds if desired and enjoy immediately!
Notes
This makes enough sauce to coat the chicken. Simply double the recipe for extra sauce.
