Chicken Wings – Air Fryer

I've been making these for a very long time. I oven-baked them until I got an Air Fryer. Now, this is the only way to make Wings. The coating is still my Go-To recipe for Wings but now it only takes minutes. Tender, Juicy, Delicious and now so very easy to make.
Difficulty: Easy
Cuisine American
Keyword Chicken, Favorite
Method Air Fryer
Prep Time 16 minutes
Cook Time 14 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes

Equipment

  • 1 8 Qt. Air Fryer (1700 Watts) Large capacity – 9" Basket

INGREDIENTS

  • 14 Chicken Wing Parts * - Cut into Drumettes and Flats

COATING

  • cup AP Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Garlic Salt
  • ½ tsp Paprika
  • ¼ tsp Black Pepper

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Cut 3 piece wings into Drumette, Flats and Tips. Discard tips.
  • Mix Coating Ingredients in a 1 Gallon Zip Lock® Plastic bag until uniformly blended.
  • Pat Chicken parts dry in paper towels and seal in the plastic bag along with Coating Mix. Shake well, rotating the bag to coat all parts.
  • Spray the interior of your Air Fryer with Cooking Oil and arrange Wings in a single layer, leaning some parts against the sides if needed.
  • Set Temp at 400°F and cook for 14 minutes, turning over after 7 minutes.

Notes

 *  I usually buy Bone-In Wings in a package of 14  – 16  full wings and freeze them in two batches of 7 – 8 Wings.  This coating recipe is for ONE batch of 7-8 three-piece wings.
Beware:  Air Fryers vary in size and power.  Carefully monitor the doneness of the wings the first few times you make these and adjust cooking time accordingly.
Serve hot, as is, or with your choice of BBQ sauce, Ranch dressing, Hot sauce, etc. They’re great with Ranch Dressing for dipping.
If the wings are large, you can make two batches of Coating and use two plastic bags to coat half of the wings in each bag. I prefer to butcher the wings into flats and drumettes (discarding the tips) but you may wish to use full pieces.
If you don’t want the garlic flavor (it’s very mild.), substitute regular Salt for the Garlic Salt.
