Stuffed Pretzel Rolls
Stuffed Pretzel Rolls are made with cocktail-sized sausages wrapped in strips of pizza dough, boiled, sprinkled with salt, and baked to a golden brown.
Servings 24 Rolls
Equipment
- Small Mixing Bowl for Egg wash
- Baking Sheet for Oven Baking
- Air Fryer for Air Fryer method
- Rolling Pin
- Parchment Paper
INGREDIENTS
- 1 tube Pizza Dough - 13.8 ounces
- 24 Sausages Links – Cooked - cocktail sized
- 5 cups Water
- ¼ cup Baking Soda
- 1 Lg. Egg - room temp, beaten
- 1 tsp. Kosher Salt
- Cheese Sauce - for dipping
INSTRUCTIONS
- Remove pizza dough from the package and place on a cutting board. Using a rolling pin, roll into a rectangle, ¼" thick. Cut in half lengthwise using a pizza cutter. Then, cross-cut each rectangle into 12, 1" wide strips – 24 strips in total.
- Place a sausage on each strip. Tightly roll the dough around each, letting the link stick out a bit on each end.
- In a medium pot, bring the water to a light boil. Add the baking soda and stir until dissolved.
- Working in batches of 3-4, add the rolls and boil for 20-30 seconds. Use a slotted spoon to remove.
OVEN BAKE:
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- Place boiled rolls on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Use a pastry brush to brush the outside of each with the beaten egg. Sprinkle each evenly with salt.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown.
AIR FRYER:
- Perheat Air Fryer to 375°F.
- Remove boiled rolls, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle with salt.
- Place boiled rolls into a parchment-lined fryer basket.
- Bake for 4-6 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown. Work in batches if necessary.
- Serve with cheese sauce for dipping.
Notes
For extra zing, lay a very narrow strip of Pepper Jack Cheese down the center of each dough strip just before rolling, making sure it is completely sealed inside the roll before boiling.
