Brown Gravy

Brown Gravy
Thick, traditional country Gravy the way you remember it. Made from scratch in true restaurant style.Difficulty: Easy
Equipment
- 1 Skillet
- Whisk
INGREDIENTS…
- 1 Tbsp. Butter
- 1 medium Onion - sliced
- 8 oz Mushrooms - sliced
- 2 Tbsp. AP Flour
- 2 cups Beef Broth
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
- Salt and Black Pepper - to taste
- ¼ tsp. Gravy Master (Optional) - for color
INSTRUCTIONS
- In your skillet along with pan drippings from cooking, melt Butter and add Onions and Mushrooms. Sauté until softened and Onions are transparent.
- Carefully sprinkle flour over the Onions and Mushrooms and stir until absorbed.
- Slowly add the Beef Broth and Worcestershire Sauce stirring constantly with a whisk. Be sure there are no lumps of flour.
- Reduce heat, add Gravy Master (if used to darken color), and simmer until the gravy thickens.
Notes
Serve over Beef, Veal, Tofu, or Turkey with Mashed Potatoes, Rice, or Egg noodles.
For Chicken Gravy, use Chicken Broth and omit Worcestershire Sauce and Gravy Master.
