Kielbasa, Sauerkraut and Potatoes

A traditional, yet simple, Slovak dish with the mild flavor of sausage, spiked with the tang of Saurekraut.

Equipment

  • Large Soup Pot with cover

INGREDIENTS 

  • 1 lb. Polish sausage - cut into bite-sizedchunks
  • 2 lbs. Sauerkraut - undrained
  • 1 cup water
  • 6 Medium Potatoes - peeled and cut into large chunks
  • 1 Tbsp. Caraway Seeds - (Optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Peel and cut Potaoes into medium chunks
  • Cut Kielbasa into bite-sized pieces.
  • Add everything into a large pot, stir, cover, and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to a simmer and allow to cook until the potqtoes are fork tender. (About 1 hour)

Notes

You can refrigerate leftovers for about three days.
You may substitute your favorite sausage for the kielbasa but be warned…  Other sausages don’t give this dish the best flavor.
