Kielbasa, Sauerkraut and Potatoes
A traditional, yet simple, Slovak dish with the mild flavor of sausage, spiked with the tang of Saurekraut. Diffifulty: Beginner
Servings 4
Equipment
- Large Soup Pot with cover
INGREDIENTS
- 1 lb. Polish sausage - cut into bite-sizedchunks
- 2 lbs. Sauerkraut - undrained
- 1 cup water
- 6 Medium Potatoes - peeled and cut into large chunks
- 1 Tbsp. Caraway Seeds - (Optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Peel and cut Potaoes into medium chunks
- Cut Kielbasa into bite-sized pieces.
- Add everything into a large pot, stir, cover, and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to a simmer and allow to cook until the potqtoes are fork tender. (About 1 hour)
Notes
You can refrigerate leftovers for about three days.
You may substitute your favorite sausage for the kielbasa but be warned… Other sausages don’t give this dish the best flavor.
