Hamburger Steak with Gravy
Juicy Burgers smothered in a deep, savory Brown Gravy with Onions and Mushrooms. This timeless comfort food is hearty, cozy, and perfect for a satisfying homemade dinner. Difficulty: Easy
Servings 6 Burgers
Equipment
- Large Mixing Bowl
- Large Skillet
INGREDIENTS…
For Burgers
- 1 ½ lbs Ground Beef - (80/20)
- ½ cup Plain Breadcrumbs
- 1 Egg
- 2 Tbsp. Milk
- 1 tsp. Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp. Onion Powder
- ½ tsp. Paprika
- Salt and Black Pepper - to taste
- 2 Tbsp. EVOO - for cooking
For Gravy
- 1 Tbsp. Butter
- 1 medium Onion - sliced
- 8 oz Mushrooms - sliced
- 2 Tbsp. AP Flour
- 2 cups Beef Broth
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
- Salt and Black Pepper - to taste
INSTRUCTIONS
Make Bugers
- In a large bowl, gently combine Beef, Breadcrumbs, Egg, Milk, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Paprika, Salt, and pepper, folding as little as possible.
- Shape into Burgers and sear in a skillet over medium-high heat until well browned on both sides. Remove and set aside.
Make Gravy
- In the same skillet, melt Butter and add Onions and Mushrooms. Sauté until softened and Onions are lightly caramelized.
- Lightly sprinkle flour on veggies. Stir until absorbed.
- Slowly pour in Beef Broth, add Worcestershire Sauce, stirring constantly.
Combine
- Return the Burgers to the skillet, spoon gravy on top, reduce heat, and simmer until the gravy thickens and Burgers reach 155°F. internal temp for Medium doneness.
- Serve hot along with your favorite sides.
