Salisbury Steak with Gravy

- Medium Mixing Bowl
- Large Skillet
- Whisk
- Wooden Spatula
INGREDIENTS
Salisbury Steaks
- 1½ lb Ground Beef - 80/20
- ½ cup Breadcrumbs
- 1 Lg. Egg
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire Cauce
- 1 tsp. Onion Powder
- 1 tsp. Garlic Powder
- Salt & Black Pepper - to taste
- 1 Tbsp. EVOO
Rich Brown Gravy
- 2 Tbsp. Butter or pan drippings
- 1 Lg. Onion - thinly sliced
- 2 Tbsp. AP Flour
- 2 cups Beef Broth
- Black Pepper - to taste
- Salt - to taste
INSTRUCTIONS
- Combine Ground Beef, Breadcrumbs, Egg, Worcestershire Sauce, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Salt, and Pepper. Mix gently and form 4 oval patties.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear patties until browned on both sides. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add Butter if needed. Add Onions and cook until soft and lightly caramelized.
- Sprinkle flour over onions and stir for 1 minute. Slowly whisk in Beef Broth, scraping up browned bits. Simmer low & slow.
- Return Patties to the skillet. Cover and simmer 15–20 minutes until Steaks are tender and gravy thick and glossy.
- Serve hot, spooning Gravy over the Steaks.
Notes
Tips & Substitutions
Add sliced Mushrooms for a classic variation.
Serve with Mashed Potatoes or over Rice or Egg Noodles Be generous with Gravy. Possibly make two batches.
