Salisbury Steak & Potatoes
Hamburger patties simmered in rich onion gravy with potatoes creating melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness.Difficulty: Beginner
Servings 6
Equipment
- Slow Cooker
- Large Mixing Bowl
INGREDIENTS…
For the Patties:
- 1 ½ lbs. Ground Beef
- ⅓ cup Breadcrumbs
- 1 Egg
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
- ½ tsp. Garlic Powder
- ½ tsp. Onion Powder
- Salt and Black Pepper to taste
For the Gravy & Potatoes:
- 1 Small Onion - Diced
- 1 ½ lbs Yukon Gold Potatoes - cut into chunks
- 2 cups Beef Broth
- 1 pkg. Brown Gravy Mix - 1 oz.
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 Tbsp. Ketchup
Optional for thickening
- 1 Tbsp. Cornstarch
- 2 Tbsp. Water
INSTRUCTIONS
Make the patties.
- In a large bowl, combine Ground Beef, Breadcrumbs, Egg, Worcestershire Sauce, Garlic and Onion Powder, Salt, and Black Pepper. Mix gently and form into thick, oval patties. Over-mixing will make them tough and chewy.
- Add Diced Onion and Potatoes to the bottom of the slow cooker. Place patties on top in a layer.
Mix the gravy.
- In a Bowl, whisk together Beef Broth, Gravy Mix, Worcestershire Sauce, and Ketchup. Pour over the patties and potatoes.
Cook.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until Potatoes are fork tender and patties are cooked through.
Thicken (optional).
- If you prefer thicker gravy, stir in Cornstarch slurry during the last 20 minutes of cooking.
Serve.
- Spoon extra gravy over the patties and potatoes after plating.
Notes
-
- Serve with Buttered Green Beans
- Add a side of Crusty Bread
- Top with Fresh Parsley for color
