Salisbury Steak & Potatoes

Hamburger patties simmered in rich onion gravy with potatoes creating melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness.

Equipment

  • Slow Cooker
  • Large Mixing Bowl

INGREDIENTS… 

For the Patties:

  • 1 ½ lbs. Ground Beef
  • cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
  • ½ tsp. Garlic Powder
  • ½ tsp. Onion Powder
  • Salt and Black Pepper to taste

For the Gravy & Potatoes:

  • 1 Small Onion - Diced
  • 1 ½ lbs Yukon Gold Potatoes - cut into chunks
  • 2 cups Beef Broth
  • 1 pkg. Brown Gravy Mix - 1 oz.
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. Ketchup

Optional for thickening

  • 1 Tbsp. Cornstarch
  • 2 Tbsp. Water

INSTRUCTIONS

Make the patties.

  • In a large bowl, combine Ground Beef, Breadcrumbs, Egg, Worcestershire Sauce, Garlic and Onion Powder, Salt, and Black Pepper. Mix gently and form into thick, oval patties. Over-mixing will make them tough and chewy.
  • Add Diced Onion and Potatoes to the bottom of the slow cooker. Place patties on top in a layer.

Mix the gravy.

  • In a Bowl, whisk together Beef Broth, Gravy Mix, Worcestershire Sauce, and Ketchup. Pour over the patties and potatoes.

Cook.

  • Cover and cook on
    LOW for 6–7 hours or
    HIGH for 3–4 hours, until Potatoes are fork tender and patties are cooked through.

Thicken (optional).

  • If you prefer thicker gravy, stir in Cornstarch slurry during the last 20 minutes of cooking.

Serve.

  • Spoon extra gravy over the patties and potatoes after plating.

Notes

    • Serve with Buttered Green Beans
    • Add a side of Crusty Bread
    • Top with Fresh Parsley for color
