INGREDIENTS
- 2 Small Sweet Onions - * – See Note
- ½ cup AP Flour
- ½ tsp. Paprika
- ½ tsp. Garlic Powder
- ½ tsp. Salt
- ¼ tsp. Black Pepper
- 1 Egg
- ¼ cup Milk
- Cooking Spray
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat your Air Fryer to 375°F.
- Peel the Onions, cut off the tops keeping the root intact, and make 8-10 vertical cross-cuts to create thin petals.
- In a bowl, mix together the AP Flour, Paprika, Garlic Powder, Salt, and Black Pepper.
- In another bowl, whisk the Egg and Milk until smooth.
- Gently pry open petals, coat with Flour mixture and dip into Egg mixture. Reapply another coat of Flour blend.
- Using Cooking Spray, spray the Fryer basket, add Onions, spaced apart, and finally, lightly spray the Onions.
- Chill before frying to help the coating stick.
- Air fry for 10–12 minutes, rotating if needed, until golden, crispy on edges, and tender inside.
- Serve hot along with your favorite Dipping Sauce.
Notes
* Use Small Sweet Onions such as Vidalia for best results.
Be careful to not slice into the roots causing the Onions to fall apart.
Alternate: Bake in the Oven for at 400°F for 15-18 minutes on a parchment-lined tray but they won’t be quite as crispy.
