Equipment
Large Mixing Bowl
5" x 9" Loaf Pan
Wooden Spoon or Spatula
INGREDIENTS
1 ½cupsWarm Water - 105° F.
2 ¼tsp.Instant Yeast - (1 packet)
3 ½cupsAll-Purpose Flour
2tsp.Sugar
1 ½tsp.Salt
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat your oven to 375°F.
In a large bowl, combine the Sugar and Water. Sprinkle the Yeast over the top and stir gently. Let the mixture sit for 5–10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
Slowly add the Flour and Salt to the bowl. Stir with a wooden spoon or spatula until it forms a sticky dough.
Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm spot until it doubles in size (about 1 hour).
Gently transfer the dough to a greased or parchment-lined loaf pan. Smooth the top using damp fingers or spatula.
Cover again and allow to rise for another 30 minutes, until puffed up to the top of the loaf pan. Lightly score the loaf lengthwise down its center with the point of a sharp knife.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and it sounds hollow when tapped.
Remove from the oven and let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
Make sure the water is warm, not too hot. Hot water will kill your yeast.Recipe makes one loaf (approx. 10 slices).
